Abstract

Coagulation is an important process in the drinkable water treatment plant. The traditionally used jar test is time consuming and less adaptive to the change in water quality. In this paper, the model predictive control (MPC) strategy is chosen to determine the optimal coagulant dosage. The predictive controller uses a model of the process and alters the dosage rate in order to fulfil the control objective.
